BUSY ABBI - BEE

Cannon Valley:
The Cannon Valley Donation Wall is coming together well. Today Ben and I worked on the glass-line up. Very exciting. The cast glass looks like ice!

Art Biologic:
o.k. so the photo of mine had some printing issues - but given all the artists that are showing here, and how good their work is... whoa, I feel really special!

Upcoming events

So this work is about to go out to the Art Biologic in a few days. I love this piece. If you are near Hudson, NY, check it out.

Also - May 4th (7-9pm) I will be participating at the WAM Chatter event in Minneapolis at the Wiseman Art Museum.

WAM Chatter, which will be addressing Eduardo's exhibition of his transgenic petunia. The WAM Chatter event associated with this exhibition is scheduled for Monday May 4, 7-9 PM.

WAM Chatter is a new monthly Weisman program that features speakers in the Pecha Kucha format. Pecha Kucha nights were started by architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham in Tokyo as a means for architects and designers to show their work informally in public. The form has spread virally and is now seen in over 150 cities as far flung as London, Boston, Tokyo, Budapest, Oslo, Reyjavik, Dubai, Amsterdam, Seoul, and Kuwait City. The rules to Pecha Kucha are simple: each presenter shows 20 images for 20 seconds a piece. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show. WAM is employing the format as a means to provocatively present ideas and spark lively discussion on topics culled from and/or inspired by our exhibitions. Each evening is set up by an exhibition-related question. May's question is as follows:

Is it right for artists to manipulate life?
Diane Willow and Neil Olszewski (the eplant scientist who worked with Eduardo) have agreed to present. Jeff Kahn, director of the Center for Bioethics, will moderate."

One more thing - keep your eye out for my and Ben Reed's show coming up this August at Gallery 13 (downtown Minneapolis). Opening August 7th

ARGGGGGG CERAMICS!!!!
One of those months - Abbi v.s. the Kiln!
Dealing with a many ceramic set backs at the moments. Breaking, busting, glazing, explosions, kilns too small, cracking, shifting, surfaces, sealing, colors bleeding, salting, popping... all for a few nice red pieces.
But they are nice.... sooo nice. I wish I could afford my own work. When this gets to the gallery I hope they all go to great homes. They are taking far too long to make, but each piece - wow.... just so much work, but so worth it.

nervous about doing Junior Reviews tomorrow. I hope I can say something smart. :) One would hope.

In the mean time, here's work for the Cannon Valley Art donation wall. Need to get these orders out and then get these finished by the end of June... No pressure right?? Nope - TONS.

I feel Uber Busy right now.
